Competition Law Individual Redress – Private Damages Actions
In May 2016, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the UK authority responsible for the enforcement of competition rules, published guidance intended to provide an outline for individuals and businesses of their rights to bring private actions for redress for breaches of competition law.
These private actions complement and reinforce public enforcement by the CMA and also ensure that those who suffer as a result of breaches of competition rules are compensated accordingly.
In our new competition law briefing we will discuss:
- What are private damages actions?
- What will you need to prove?
- The types of action available
- The relief available
- Time limits for bringing a claim
